Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door, and makes a friend in Champ (Ryan Lee). But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah’s mysterious dad is in fact R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. As Zach starts learning about the strange family next door, he soon discovers that Stine holds a dangerous secret: the creatures that his stories made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Stine’s creations are unintentionally released from their manuscripts it’s up to Zach, Hannah, Champ, and Stine to team up in a crazy night of adventure and get the creatures—including Slappy the Dummy—back in the books to save the town.

Based on R.L. Stine's bestselling children's horror stories Goosebumps brings the authors monsters together in one fun filled horror film.

The story is pretty simple, divorced mum takes her son Zach (Dylan Minnette) to a new home in a new town where they move in next door to a strange man called Mr Shivers (Jack Black) who keeps his daughter Hannah (Odeya Rush) under a tight lead.

The young neighbours then become friends and when Zach tries to free Hannah from the clutches of her father he unwittingly opens a book called The Abominable Snowman. When a Yeti escapes from the pages of the book things go from bad to worse as the other books on the shelve fall releasing everything from Werewolf's to murderous gnomes. It's then up to the kids and Mr Shivers to find a way to return the rampant monsters to the books from where they've came.

Goosebumps is a fast paced horror film that going to keep most older kids amused, however be warned that its PG rating disguises the fact that there's enough bumps and frights in the film to give very young children a few sleepless nights. As for adults, well that all depends on if you like Jack Black, if you do then you're going to enjoy Goosebumps, if you're not a Jack Black lover is usual over the top look at me performance is not going to convert you into liking him.
