Miss You Already is an enjoyable if somewhat formulaic film that's designed to have the audience reaching for its hankies.
Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore play Milly and Jess, two best friends from childhood who both stay in London (ignore the fact that Barrymore has an
American accent and Collette an Australian one). Milly is a mother of two beautiful children and the wife to a perfect husband (Dominic Cooper) whilst her
best friend Jess isn't so lucky, she stays on a house boat on the Thames with her husband (Paddy Constantine), for Jess and her husband life his hard, they
are always short of money and their efforts to start a family have all came to nothing.
However one fateful day things are turned on there head when Milly is diagnosed with breast cancer. Jess then vows to be with her every step of the way as
Milly battles her illness.
Miss You Already certainly doesn't shy away from showing the ravages of cancer, Collette’s performance is a brave one has she has her hair shaven and
spends large parts of the film throwing up after her chemotherapy treatment.
It's pretty obvious from the start where the story's going but never the less Miss You Already is an enjoyable film that will guarantee to have you
reaching for your box of Kleenex.
