Review

As the title says, what happens when the not so clever smash it up video game villain Wreck-It Ralph leaves the confines of his aging video game? Well as the title of the movie says, he wrecks the internet.

But before he does that we find that Ralph (John C Reilly) has been living happily in his video game world for the past 6 years. During this time he’s kept best friends with Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) and everything in the arcade has been good.

However the harmony is broken when Ralph builds Vanellope a new racing circuit in her Sugar Rush game causing the game to go haywire and a young girl to sheer off the steering wheel.

A replacement part is too costly for the arcade owner and he turns off the machine causing all the Sugar Rush characters to become homeless.

Ralph and Venellope, searching the internet, find a steering wheel on a well-known auction site and invade the internet so that they can buy the wheel.

When the pair arrive in a world of Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and Google, causing Ralph to remark “At least I know where to buy a pair of goggles” they find eBay and over bid on the steering wheel, leaving them just 24 hours to find the £27,000 they need to pay for their item.

Ralph Breaks The Internet feels at first like the biggest product placement movie in history but after a while you realise how genius in fact the idea of using everyday companies is. You are so familiar with the likes of Amazon, Facebook etc. there plenty of laughs to be had as the movie pokes fun at each and every one of them.

That’s not to say that Disney can’t laugh at themselves as they leave the biggest laugh and by far the best scene for when Vanellope enters the World of Disney where she comes across all the Disney Princesses.

Slightly too long and some jokes do fall wide of the mark but for most of the time Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 is genuinely funny and witty comedy that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible and to add to the fantastic visuals, see it in 3D.
