Review (Scott McCutcheon 16/05/24)

It’s entirely possible, unless you’re a massive fan of The Rolling Stones that you’ve never heard of Anita Pallenberg.

Pretty much lost to history, directors Alexis Bloom and Svetlana Zill’s new documentary is an eye opening account of one of the most influential characters of the 1960s and 1970s.

From a film star, to a fashion icon, to the long term partner of Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, Anita Pallenberg’s life was so full and fascinating it’s sad that her name isn’t as well-known as some of her contemporaries from the era.

Told through her own words (she’s voiced by Scarlett Johansson) from her unpublished memoir and using archive home movies and photographs, some of which have never been seen in public before, Catching Fire: The Story Of Anita Pallenberg is an emotional rollercoaster of a journey as we follow Pallenberg from when her star was on the rise, through her drug addiction , once her beauty had begun to fade, a fashion icon.

Lovingly told by her two children - Marlon, Angela, and their father Keith Richards, Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg is a wonderful story of a life fully lived.
