Production company Long Story TV announced the theatrical release of One of Our Own – A Hope Street Film, the feature-length special of the popular Northern Ireland-set police drama Hope Street.

The 90-minute film will launch with a Gala Screening in Bangor on 18 September, ahead of its release in Omniplex Cinemas across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland from 25 September as well as a limited release in cinemas in the UK. 

One of Our Own – A Hope Street Film will also have a gala screening in London’s iconic Regent Street Cinema on 2 October, ahead of its limited theatrical release in the wider UK, before airing on BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC Daytime later this year.

Filmed in Donaghadee, Co Down, One of Our Own – A Hope Street Film sees the police back on the beat in the fictional coastal town of Port Devine, with new faces joining returning cast favourites. The film is a co-commission between BBC Northern Ireland, BBC Daytime and BritBox, made with support from Northern Ireland Screen.

The story opens with an assault in broad daylight, as Niall Wright reprises his role as Callum McCarthy, now a Detective Constable, who returns to Port Devine to investigate the case. As the investigation begins, Callum is determined to uncover what happened, but his enquiries bring bad news for Detective Sergeant Marlene Pettigrew (Kerri Quinn), as he suspects her love interest could be involved in the attack.

Returning cast members include Niall Wright (Callum McCarthy), Kerri Quinn (Marlene Pettigrew), Niamh McGrady (Nicole Devine-Dunwoody), Tara-Lynne O’Neill (Eve Dunlop), Marcus Onilude (Luke Jackson), Cameron Cuffe (Donal Gallagher), Katie Shortt (Brandi McClure), Eleanor Methven (Lois Dunlop), Paddy Jenkins (Seamie McCarthy), Jonny Grogan (Ross Dunlop), RheAna Kamalu (Chloe Jackson) and Aaron McCusker (Clint Devine-Dunwoody).

Joining the cast are Paddy Raff as The Commodore’s new chef and barman Malcolm McQueen, and Letitia Hector as Marlene’s love interest Anna Baptiste. There is also a special cameo from Tim McGarry, who plays Port Devine’s minister, Reverend Dodds.

The film will also feature a scene with Finnian Garbutt as Ryan Power, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Behind the drama are producers Paul Marquess and Donna Wiffen of Long Story TV, with the film written by Paul Marquess. The film has been commissioned by Eddie Doyle, Senior Head of Content Commissioning for BBC Northern Ireland and Rob Unsworth, Senior Head of Commissioning for BBC Daytime. Hope Street first premiered in 2021. Series one to five are currently available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer, and on BritBox in its international markets.
