Santiago: The Camino Therapy is a French comedy-drama directed by Yann Samuell (Love Me If You Dare, War of the Buttons), starring Alexandra Lamy, Julien Le Berre and Mélanie Doutey.
The story follows Adam (Le Berre), a troubled teenager struggling with anger and feelings of abandonment. Following a brush with the law, he is given an unusual opportunity by a judge: undertake an 800-kilometre pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago, the famous walking route leading to Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain.
Accompanying him is Fred (Lamy), an outspoken former teacher who is attempting to come to terms with difficulties in her own past. Initially reluctant travelling companions, the pair frequently clash as they struggle with the physical demands of the journey and their very different personalities. However, as the miles pass, unexpected encounters and shared experiences gradually bring them closer, forcing both to confront their personal problems and reconsider their futures.
Originally titled Compostelle, the film is inspired by real events and based on Bernard Ollivier's book Walk and Forge Your Life (Marche et invente ta vie). The screenplay was written by Yann Samuell and Paul Rotman, with production involving Wonder Films, Page Films and Apollo Films.
Filming took place during 2025, with locations in France and Spain, including parts of the historic pilgrimage route and Santiago de Compostela itself. The landscapes provide the backdrop for a story exploring friendship, personal redemption and the possibility of finding a new direction in life.
Released in French cinemas on 1 April 2026, Santiago: The Camino Therapy arrives in UK cinemas on 20 November 2026, distributed by Munro Films. The film is presented in French with English subtitles and carries a UK 15 certificate.
