Review

Running for 12 seasons, and still going, Bob’s Burgers first aired in 2011 it came from the animation arm of Fox Studios, the same studio that had so much success with The Simpson’s and Family Guy. Whilst never gaining the same following as The Simpsons and Family Guy the powers at Fox obviously decided that there was enough of an audience out there that a full film was justified. Certainly you can watch The Bob’s Burger Movie with little or no knowledge of the show but whether anyone with little or no knowledge of the show will actually want to spend money to see it in a cinema, especially here in the UK where it’s less well known than in the US, is open for debate.

The plot, which does feel every bit like a 30 minute show padded out to feature film length, sees an enormous sink hole opening up in front of Bob’s Burger and blocking access to the Belchers restaurant at what should be their busy summer period.

Whilst Bob and his wife Linda (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin and John Roberts) try and keep the business going the kids set about solving the mystery of a skeleton that is found in the sinkhole.

The Bob’s Burger Movie is pretty much just an extended episode of the TV series with some not so memorable musical numbers added in for some padding. If you’re a fan of the show then you might find something to enjoy.

One for fans only.
